I lithium iron phosphate battery breaks foreign barriers

Lithium iron phosphate/graphene composite cathode material and its pilot production project completed by the Power Lithium Battery Technology Research Team of the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences passed the identification last week. The new achievements have broken through the foreign technical barriers of lithium iron phosphate and reached the international advanced level.

The project uses graphene composite lithium iron phosphate technology, forming a proprietary intellectual property technology. The products developed using this technology have been tested by the Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of the Chemical Physics Power Products of the Ministry of Information Industry, and the performance meets the relevant standards. This technology has achieved pilot scale production of lithium iron phosphate/graphene composite cathode materials, and it already has industrial production conditions.

It is understood that the results have now been transferred to enterprises. Ningbo Humin Power Equipment Co., Ltd. invested and established a 1,000-ton lithium iron phosphate cathode material production line together with the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The first phase production capacity is 300 tons per year and it is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2012.
