If you haven't got enough space for a full surround sound speaker system, then a good compromise can be a 3.1 Home Theater System. Compared to a 5.1 Home Theater  system, while it will provide the best listening experience, a 3.1 Home Theater sound system will allow easy enjoyment of music and movies with realistic sound, but without the clutter of additional speakers and wires.
