From the perspective of enterprise gathering, Shenzhen LED enterprises have been distributed in the upstream substrate materials, epitaxial wafers, midstream chips, downstream packaging, applications and supporting materials, processing and testing equipment, etc., and have formed a relatively complete domestic industrial chain. A certain industrial cluster has formed in the middle and lower reaches of the industrial chain. According to incomplete statistics, among the LED enterprises in Shenzhen, the application products enterprises, packaging enterprises and supporting enterprises each accounted for about 33%, and the upstream and downstream enterprises such as epitaxial chips accounted for about 1%.
Since the beginning of the Shenzhen LED industry, the focus on supporting construction, so in 2010, Shenzhen LED industry supporting environment has been one of the best in China. Wang Dianzhen believes that although the LED industry has not been explicitly listed as a strategic emerging industry in Shenzhen, it will play an important supporting role in all walks of life.
First, the range of LED applications is broad. Shenzhen LED enterprises have taken the lead in breakthroughs in applications such as backlights, displays, solar LED applications, and special work lighting, enabling LED companies in these areas to develop rapidly, such as Weizhi Electronics and Diguang Electronics in the field of LED backlights. However, the Shenzhen LED industry also has some problems in the development process. The LED substrate, epitaxial and chip links are relatively weak, and the products are attached. The value is low.
Secondly, most LED enterprises in Shenzhen are mainly engaged in production and processing, with insufficient technical support, less investment in research and development, and a large gap in research and development capabilities from the international level. Thirdly, the Shenzhen LED industry lacks leading enterprises with considerable scale and strength in all aspects of the industrial chain.
