Seagate recently announced that its Backup Plus Portable series of mobile hard disk is now adding a 5TB high-capacity model, which is also the world's largest mobile hard drive.
The new 5TB HDD uses the same technology as the recently released 5TB BarraCuba, the world's largest capacity 2.5-inch HDD, to accommodate ample storage space in a limited volume. Unlike mobile hard disks that use larger 3.5-inch disks, the 5TB Backup Plus Portable requires no external power supply, which makes it a true mobile hard disk.
In terms of data transfer speed, 5TB Backup Plus Portable does not have any loss. It uses USB 3.0 for data transfer up to 120MB/s. Although its thickness (0.8 inches) is almost twice that of the Backup Ultra Slim (0.38 inches) and Backup Slim (0.4 inches), its portability is also acceptable given its large capacity.
