Tokyo, Japan, October 8, 2015 - Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), the world's leading semiconductor solutions provider, today announced the launch of the ADAS Panoramic Surround Kit. As the complexity of the ADAS system (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) continues to increase, Renesas Electronics is committed to providing automotive system manufacturers with solutions that are fast and easy to use. On July 16, Renesas Electronics introduced the ADAS Starter Kit for a wide range of applications. The new ADAS Panoramic Surround Kit expands on the original ADAS Starter Kit to simplify and accelerate the development of panoramic surround applications. The panoramic look-and-view application will play an important role in the future automotive industry, offering greater comfort and new safety features.
The ADAS Panoramic Surround Kit integrates an automotive camera from Integrated Micro-electronics Inc. and multiple high-speed Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) from Maxim Integrated Products on the micro-car chassis. This integration allows system manufacturers to develop additional panoramic components without the need to purchase and assemble the required automotive components.
The kit also provides a dual channel CAN interface and a Gigabit Ethernet connector interface for automotive applications to meet the needs of cars that do not use standard chassis.
The ADAS panoramic surround kit can be connected to an existing ADAS starter kit via a vehicle-mounted expansion connector to provide system manufacturers with superior processing performance. The ADAS panoramic surround kit was developed based on the high-end performance of the Renesas Electronics R-Car H2 SoC (system-on-chip). The system chip has more than 25,000 DMIPS of processing power, top 3D graphics capabilities and a powerful video processing core. The R-Car H2 SoC supports up to four independent input HD camera channels, making it easy to achieve 360° omnidirectional viewing and object recognition.
The new kit is supported by Yoctor for both R-Car evaluation boards. In addition, Renesas Electronics will provide reference applications to help system manufacturers quickly and easily use the ADAS panoramic surround kit to drive the development of future ADAS application hardware and software solutions.
