New sensor "catch up tide" Internet of Things

According to data released by the Sensitive Components and Sensors Branch of the China Electronic Components Industry Association, the Chinese sensor market continues to grow at a rate of more than 15%. In the next 5 years, the average sales growth rate of the domestic sensor market will reach 31%. This is in line with the pace of development of the Internet of Things.

The Internet of Things brings new opportunities

The low-carbon economy has become a hot topic in various circles. The third industrial revolution in the world has targeted the low-carbon economy and the Internet of Things industry. The world economy has shown three major development trends: greening, wireless networking and health and safety. Greening is the core of a low-carbon economy. Wireless networking is the basis for moving the existing Internet, radio and television networks, and communication networks to the "Internet of Things." Health and safety are the fundamental goals of low-carbon and Internet of Things.

Recently, at the "Internet of Things and Sensor Industry Development Forum and 2011 Annual Meeting" held by the China Electronic Components Industry Association Sensitive Components and Sensors Branch in Wuhan, Hubei, the participants agreed that the Internet of Things has become a major global hotspot. Under the environment, sensor companies must seize this opportunity to adjust product structure and track cutting-edge technologies, especially new sensors that use technologies such as MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems).

The "Internet of Things Industry Development Research (2010)" report jointly released by Zhongguancun Internet of Things Industry Alliance and Great Wall Strategic Consulting predicts that China's Internet of Things industry will become a trillion-dollar emerging industry. Therefore, the Internet of Things will have very broad development prospects. The sensor is the basic detection terminal that constitutes the Internet of Things. As an important technology for the development of the Internet of Things, sensor technology has naturally become the focus of market attention.

Professor Tang Zhen'an of Dalian University of Technology pointed out that the opportunities brought by the Internet of Things for the sensor industry are mainly reflected in the following aspects: The Internet of Things is a new factor to promote economic growth. In the next few decades, the Internet of Things technology will promote the development of various industries for the national economy Develop and provide trillions of relevant equipment manufacturing, operation and service industries. Electronic products account for an increasing share of modern industrial products. By the end of 2010, they had reached 53%. The Internet of Things is an opportunity to promote the development of the sensitive components and sensor industry once again after industrial modernization.

"The challenge of the Internet of Things to the sensor industry lies in the demand for multiple varieties of sensor products that can meet the measurement requirements of everything; the integration of sensors to meet the comprehensive requirements of detection, processing, and transmission systems; the networking of sensors and low power consumption Characteristics, create green electronics, and support low-carbon and environmentally friendly application requirements. "Tang Zhenan said.

Wen Xueli, Secretary General of the China Electric Power Association, analyzed the development situation of the Internet of Things and sensors in China, and said that the Internet of Things is not only a technological innovation, but also a systematic innovation of practice and business model. Enterprises need to seize this wave and need More open, more pragmatic and more collaborative promotion.

The gap with foreign countries is gradually narrowing

Guo Meng, Secretary-General of the Sensitive Components and Sensors Branch of the China Electronic Components Industry Association, said that at present, the government and the entire industry have attached great importance to the Internet of Things and sensors. In July 2011, the latest publication of the China Electronic Components Industry Association In the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" of the electronic component industry, intelligent and networked sensors suitable for the Internet of Things industry, as well as sensors for environmental monitoring and security monitoring, etc., are also included in the list of key development products.

With the active guidance and support of national policies, China ’s sensor technology and industry have achieved remarkable results. We are gradually narrowing the gap with foreign countries in the research of sensor technology. A number of new sensors based on MEMS technology are entering the market. In the field, the application range is continuously widened, and the design technology, material control technology, production technology, reliability technology and testing technology are continuously developed, and the mass production capacity is gradually improved; traditional sensors, such as mechanical sensors, gas sensors, temperature sensors, optical sensors, voltage sensitive The production and sales situation of sensors has been rising steadily. Not only has the share in the domestic market gradually increased, but it has also met the needs of some foreign markets.

However, China's sensor industry and technology research still lags behind the international advanced level, especially in the field of new sensors. Guo Meng said that micro-nano sensors are representatives of the new sensor industry. As far as micro-nano sensors are concerned, the United States, the European Union, Japan and other countries have formed stable R & D teams, design teams, product processing companies and user groups, and their MEMS basic processes Has developed to a mature and stable stage. Pressure sensors, inertial sensors, acceleration sensors, humidity sensors, chemical sensors, and wireless sensor networks not only meet the needs of national defense security and the national economy, but are also expanding into the field of consumer products. Various products can be mass-produced according to market demand.

Strengthen the development of new sensors

At present, China's sensor industry is at a critical stage of development from traditional to new sensors. New sensors are mainly based on MEMS technology, new materials, microelectronics technology and related disciplines. The product features are integrated, intelligent, miniaturized, networked, multifunctional and low cost, with excellent technical performance and high reliability index. New sensors include temperature, humidity, optical, infrared, chemical, magnetic, and acoustic sensors for new strategic industrial applications such as low-carbon economy and Internet of Things.

Zhang Hongquan, a researcher at the 49th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, said that MEMS, as an internationally recognized most promising emerging industry in the 21st century, should be strongly supported by the state. Government financial support should change the "less and wide" model, and select leading companies in the entire society to provide key support. To realize the industrialization of MEMS, the government should take the initiative to create a "MEMS start-up company-public research and development platform-foundry-packaging plant" of the entire industry chain rather than a split planning model, so that companies in all aspects of the industry chain pass the government's early Promote the establishment of strategic cooperative relations.

Guo Meng pointed out that in the future, the sensor industry should not only strengthen the development of new sensors, but also upgrade the quality of traditional sensors and increase the output according to market demand; the product variety is inclined to investment, especially to fill the "blank" varieties, so Make the proportion of various categories and varieties of sensors appropriate, forming a new product structure of "alternating new and old, combining far and near, complete varieties, and meeting demand".

For the large-scale production of sensor companies, Guo Meng said that the practice of large-scale production technology shows that economies of scale produce benefits. Since the market demand for various types of sensors is different, their economies of scale in production are also different. Taking into account the use of advanced production technology and market expansion in the future, the production scale of large-scale and general-purpose sensors will be calculated with an annual output of 100 million, and the production scale of some mid-range sensors will be calculated with an annual output of 10 million (including the above); The production scale of some high-end sensors and special sensors will be several hundred thousand to several million per year. After achieving economies of scale production, production costs can be reduced to the utmost, and commercialization of inexpensive sensors can be achieved.
