Google's stock price soared by investors

According to foreign media reports, Google's stock price exceeded the $800 mark for the first time in the stock market trading on Tuesday. The main factor driving the rise of Google's stock price is that investors believe it can use its leading position in the online search field and the increasingly important mobile device market. The advantages continue to gain steadily increasing profits.

Google's share price exceeded 700 U.S. dollars for the first time more than five years ago. However, shortly after Google first stood at $700 in August 2007, the United States broke out from the worst economic recession since World War II, and Google’s stocks have therefore entered a long period of downward trend.

In addition to making its employees and shareholders profitable, Google's stock price is also a recognition of the work of Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page. Page took over as chief executive of Eric Schmidt in April 2011. Google’s share price has risen by 35% since Peck took over as CEO. In contrast, the S&P 500 index rose only 15% over the same period. Most of the rise in Google's stock has occurred in the past seven months.

The significance of the stock price breaking 800 US dollars is mainly symbolic. If Google can continue to maintain healthy growth, its stock price should not stop here.

Last year, Google proposed a share-sharing proposal that aims to double the total number of shares and cut the share price in half. But that proposal has been put on hold until Google resolves a shareholder’s complaint against the company before it is put back on the agenda. Shareholders said that the split-share proposal would give the company co-founder Peggy and Sergey Brin more power. It is expected that the case will be heard in the Delaware State Court on June 17.
